Bee Venom/Procaine and TMJ

Neural Therapy (NT)  has been  used  in Germany for pain relief since 1925.  Doctors  Walter and Ferdinand Hunke preformed the treatment on ligaments, scars, trigger points, vascular structures, glands and autonomic ganglia. Twelve years ago Dietrich Klinghardt, M.D., PhD found the combination of  Bee Venom Therapy (0.1-0.2ml) with each treatment a powerful and effective treatment modality. This combination is clearly more effective than either BVT or NT alone. http://www.klinghardtacademy.com/Protocols/Neural-Therapy-with-Bee-Venom.html The following conditions respond the best to the treatment:

  1. Post-herpetic neuralgia (Herpes zoster in the chronic stage, not in the acute stage)
  2. Post 3rd degree burn pain (segmental therapy)
  3. Fibromyalgia (injections over the areas of tenderness, all scars, adrenals, thyroid)
  4. Kidney failure (segmental therapy over the kidney area twice/week)
  5. Depression and chronic fatigue(segmental therapy to scars, skull, thyroid and adrenal area)
  6. Facial pain (“TMJ” or “TMD”)
  7. Premature aging and hormonal imbalances (same treatment as 6.)

The treatment usually last for four weeks and is performed twice a week initially and then reduced to once a week. If the patient does not respond well within the four-week period, the treatment is discontinued.

Bee Venom Ointment

VeneX Ointment available at BeeHoneyHealthy.com

I have used my Bee Venom (Venex) ointment without the use of Procaine  for several years to control TMJ symptoms.  A very small amount rubbed into the area around the jaw, cheek ,ear and temples at night relieves the pain significantly. Periodically (once every two months) I combine chiropractic treatments.  Stress release through exercise, meditation and laughter also assists with the flare-up.

* 0.1 ml of bee-venom (BV 20) contain approximately the same amount of BV as a real bee-sting, delivered by a honey bee to the skin of a human

Six Bee Pollen Reactions/Warning Signs

Bee pollen is a wonderful substance. It contains trace amounts of minerals and vitamins and is very high in protein and carbohydrates. http://altmedicine.about.com/cs/herbsvitaminsa1/a/Bee_Pollen.htm People suffering from sinus infections and allergies often use bee pollen to assist in building  resistance to allergens.  A gradual increase in the bee pollen dosage often decreases distressing allergy symptoms.  Bee pollen eventually relieves hay fever symptoms…….unless there is an allergic reaction.

I have tried bee pollen on several occasions to alleviate allergies and  rhinitis.  (My previous blogs refer to my sinus conditions and symptom relief.)  A few minutes later I had several strange symptoms that I interpreted as low blood sugar or a  hot flash.  The symptoms were somewhat uncomfortable, yet passed in 30-45 minutes.  Never associating the symptoms with the pollen/berry/protein smoothie I drank, unexpected information about  bee pollen allergic reactions surfaced  during an in-depth study of its properties.  Note the following six reactions and cease to ingest bee pollen if an experience with these symptoms  has occurred. …..especially more than once!

1. Red flushing of the face

2. Feeling warm with/without sweating

3. Dizziness

4. Stomach pains

5. Diarrhea

6. Anxiety

These symptoms may diminish over time and the benefits of the bee pollen may gradually take effect,  however please take caution and note that a severe reaction such as anaphylactic shock may result.  I love bees and their products but I am NOT going to continue the bee pollen regimen!

Zumba at Home vs. Zumba Classes!?

Today’s pace is very fast……..we are extremely busy people…….working, serving, raising, teaching and communicating.  Exercising is a necessity. We all acknowledge that.  Our blood needs to flow faster than normal occasionally and muscles should be provided an opportunity to  increase in strength and size through movement. If not, our bodies atrophy. What is fun and integrates body, soul and mind into one full body workout???  Zumba!

Zumba dancing is  great!  It is fast paced, fun and creative. Does it matter how, when or where we engage in the movement?  That question is totally dependent on preferences, convenience and motivation. Zumba classes at the “Y” offer friendship  and peer support. Zumba at home is cheap, readily available and private!  It really doesn’t matter when or where we dance…..it is more important  if we do it ?  Get out the videos or drive to the “club”….the results are similar: health improves, strength increases, energy and soul is revitalized.  Go Zumba and feel the fun…..the body’s adaptations to it are pretty cool too.

Bee Venom Obsorption Through Nasal Passages

As bee venom increases in usage as alternative medicine to manage pain, control arthritis symptoms and other autoimmune conditions, controversy with absorption through the stomach has become an issue. Experts in apitherapy agree that stomach enzymes decrease the potency of bee venom. Bee sting specialist in the United States and Canada agree that the honey-bee sting and/or direct injection into the blood stream is the best form of absorption. Apitherapists are gaining in popularity but are often not immediately available. This limits the popularity of the treatment. Several stings two to three times a week for six weeks or more is the standard introduction to the therapy.

On previous blogs I mentioned using honey for sinus congestion and infection. I am now trying honey and bee venom along with neti-pot procedures to monitor and manage neck and shoulder pain. I am an avid exerciser so the many repeated movements over the years are causing my body to scream “enough!”…but I am yelling back with the assistance of bee venom and the neti-pot “method” of ingestion.

Caution: Do not try this if you are allergic to bees!!!

Sinus Infections and Honey

Many sinus infections are due to fungus and/or bacteria. Honey has been used for years as a natural anibiotic/antiseptic. It interferes with the reproduction of these invasive probes. Honey is effective in wound healing, sore throat pain and sinus infections. Here is a quick recipe for sinus relief and sinus health.

1. Heat a neti-pot with water in a microwave for a few seconds (20-30)
2. Add a pinch or two of baking soda to the wam water. This softens the water as well as aides in the healing.
3. Add a teaspoon or two of honey to the warm neti-pot.
4. Mix well with a spoon making sure the honey is melted and saturated into the water and baking soda.
5. Use the neti-pot as directions indicate for each sinus.
6. Blow out the excess liquid gently.
7. Wait another 60 seconds and clear the sinus again.
8. Repeat morning and evening.
9. The sinuses should feel soothed almost immediately.
10. If the sinus infection does not subside in two weeks, seek a doctor.

This regimine has helped me tremendously!

5 tips to avoid getting sick this holiday

It is the season of joy, thankfulness and giving….but as the weather turns cold and the sun disappears from the sky earlier every day….sickness often invades our busy lives.  If we would consistently follow the five steps of immune support, we may avoid the “bugs” that slow us down. Try these simple steps and watch your health improve.

#1. Half of each meal should be fruits and vegetables.
#2. Take a mutiple vitamin.
#3. Drink 4 glasses of water a day and a cup of tea at night with a “tad” of honey. Here are some awesome honeys fortfied with bee venom that you might want to try.
#4. Walk briskly 3-4 times a week.
#5. Wash hands frequently.

Update on Honey as an Antibiotic:

How is my hand healing you wonder?  Well, there is no infection so I did not have to resort to taking an oral antibiotic and I got to taste the sweetness of  Wildflower honey morning and evening as I changed the dressing.

Foster the Alpha Wolf

Foster the Alpha Wolf

My dog is also doing just fine. He continues to run and sniff in the neighbor’s yard seeking future girlfriends and I continue to chase him yelling “sit” and “stay” as I gingerly pick him up and carry him home. A dog bite carries a lot of weight and it is scary. He has trained me well.

I have made an appointment with “The Dog Whisperer.”

Honey as an Antibiotic…???

I encountered a head to head battle with my dog, Foster, this morning and discovered that the Alpha Wolf in our house is not his owner. Foster was a bad boy and I attempted to discipline by emulating an Alpha Wolf bite on the back of his neck…..with my hand…..surprisingly, he transformed into the the # 1 wolf and bit me. My arm is now sore fom the tetanus shot but my hand feels better from the dressing of honey placed in the wound two hours ago. Science Daily (July 2010) states that honey kills bacteria.  The protein-defensine-1-could be used to combat burns and skin infections someday. That is good news considering the resistance of antibiotics and rising health care costs.

Search for Alternative Healthcare on the Rise

Bee Venom Therapy

Bee Venom Therapy

As healthcare costs increase, the search for alternative methods of healthcare increase. The aging poulation of Baby Boomers is on the rise and so are healthcare claims. Since the Boomers refuse to give up their health, independence and wealth, alternate routes for health and youth are rising.  Supplements, herbs, vitamins, bi-products and organic foods are substituted for pharmaceuticals.

In a University of Michigan Health System study, 1 out of 3 patients with chronic pain reported using complementary and alternative medicine therapies such as acupuncture and chiropractic visits for pain relief. Enough interest exists in apitherapy (bee sting therapy) and its health claims that Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., has begun a one-year preliminary study of bee venom to treat multiple sclerosis — a chronic, progressive, and often crippling neurological disorder.

“Most of the 40 ingredients in bee venom have been identified,” says Cohen. “Mellitin, an anti-inflammatory agent found in the venom, is one hundred times stronger than cortisone.” Bee venom also contains a substance known as adolapin, which is both anti-inflammatory and pain-blocking. Practitioners believe all the ingredients in bee venom work together to cause the body to release more natural healing compounds in its own defense. Bee venom is also said to increase blood circulation and reduce swelling.
